This guide provides detailed insights about organic makeup, its benefits, and tips on how to choose the right products for a healthier you.

Going organic doesn't have to stop at your plate! From skincare products to makeup, the beauty industry is catching onto the benefits of natural, organic products. Understanding and choosing organic makeup can be a challenge, but we have put together this comprehensive guide to help you make informed choices. Let’s delve into the world of organic beauty!

The Importance of Organic Makeup

Just as we care about the quality of the food we consume, the same holds true for the products we use on our skin. Our skin absorbs what's applied to it and it eventually makes its way into the bloodstream. Some synthetic chemicals found in traditional makeup can have harmful effects in the long run. By choosing organic makeup products, we shield ourselves from the potential harm that synthetic ingredients can cause.

The Definition of Organic Makeup

Organic makeup is made from naturally sourced ingredients that are grown without the use of synthetic fertilizers, pesticides, GMOs, and other harmful substances. The farming methods used to grow these ingredients are sustainable and support the ecosystem. However, it’s important to note that not all “natural” products are organic and the keywords to look for are "certified organic".

How to Choose Your Organic Makeup

  • 1. Read the Labels: As with food, it’s vital to read the labels when choosing organic makeup. Look for products that are certified by reliable organic certification bodies such as USDA or ECOCERT. The certification signifies that the product's ingredients have been grown and processed according to strict regulations.
  • 2. Ingredient Quality: Organic makeup should be free of parabens, synthetic fragrances, and colors; all of which can be harmful to your skin and health. Instead, they should be made from high-quality plants, fruits, oils, and minerals.
  • 3. Brand Reputation: Do some research on the brand before making a purchase. A brand’s reputation, customer reviews, and product consistency can indicate the quality of their organic makeup.
  • 4. Packaging: Packaging is another important factor to consider. Many organic brands use eco-friendly packaging to compliment their sustainably sourced ingredients.
  • 5. Price: Organic makeup can be more expensive due to the cost of growing and sourcing natural ingredients. Price doesn't always denote quality, so do your research to ensure you’re paying for genuine organic products.

Organic Makeup Brands to Consider

Here are a few organic makeup brands that you might want to check out:

  • 1. RMS Beauty: This brand uses food-grade organic ingredients in their products to ensure the highest quality.
  • 2. ILIA: ILIA offers a range of skincare-infused beauty products. All their products are made with up to 85% bioactive organic ingredients.
  • 3. 100% Pure: As the brand name suggests, these products are made from 100% pure ingredients without any synthetic compounds.
  • 4. Juice Beauty: Juice Beauty is known for their eco-friendly lotions and serums that are as healthy as they are effective.
  • 5. Vapour Beauty: Vapour offers organic beauty products that are cruelty-free and made from minimally processed natural ingredients.

Shifting to organic makeup is an enormous step towards holistic wellness. As with any lifestyle change, it might take some time to find products that work best for you. This guide is your starting point to understanding and choosing organic makeup that suits your skin and contributes to a healthier lifestyle and a healthier planet.

Conclusion

Choosing organic makeup requires knowledge about the brands, their ingredients, and the benefits of organic ingredients above synthetic ones. Whether you are choosing makeup because of its environmental impact, potential health benefits, or concern for animal welfare, using organic products contributes to a broader consciousness of our impact in these areas. With this guide, finding the organic makeup perfect for your skin will be easier, setting you on the path to a more natural beauty routine.

Discover the unique skincare needs and practices for different genders in our comprehensive guide. Unravel the secrets to glowing skin, based on scientific, gender-related facts.

The skincare industry has witnessed tremendous growth over the last few decades with more and more people investing time and effort into taking care of their skin. Every person’s skin is unique, and even more than that, they vary greatly on the basis of gender. Men and women’s skin differs in texture, structure, and needs, and hence, their skincare routines should reflect these differences. This guide is for those who are looking for gender-specific skincare tips to best meet their needs.

Understanding Your Skin

  • Men and women have different skin properties. Men’s skin is about 25% thicker than women’s skin with more oil production due to higher amounts of testosterone. This makes their skin more prone to acne and oil-related concerns. On the other hand, women's skin is more delicate and thinner, thus making it vulnerable to early signs of aging.

Skincare Tips for Men

  • Cleansing: Men tend to have larger pores and increased oil production, which can lead to a build-up of dirt and bacteria. Therefore, daily facial cleansing is a must for removing surface oil and maintaining clearer and healthier skin. Choosing a cleanser specific for oily skin is recommended.

  • Exfoliating: Regular exfoliation is key to get rid of dead skin cells and promote healthier skin regeneration. 2-3 times a week is the general recommendation but it can vary based on the skin’s tolerance.

  • Moisturizing: Despite having oily skin, men should not skip moisturizing. A lightweight, non-greasy moisturizer would hydrate the skin without making it oily. It will also maintain the natural barrier of the skin.

  • Shaving Care: Men's skin often undergoes some degree of trauma every time they shave. It’s important to use shaving creams or gels that are soothing on the skin and a post-shave product that helps heal any minor cuts or burns.

  • Sun Protection: Many men forget about using sunblock, but it is a must if you want to protect your skin from premature aging and skin cancer. Choose a sunblock with a minimum SPF of 30 for daily use.

  • Eye Care: The skin around the eyes is thinner on any face, irrespective of gender. Eye creams that reduce puffiness, dark circles, and fine lines should be incorporated into the daily routine.

  • Healthy Habits: Drinking plenty of water, eating a balanced diet, and leading an active lifestyle are integral for having healthy skin. Adequate sleep also allows the skin to rejuvenate.

Skincare Tips for Women

  • Cleansing: Since women’s skin is thinner and less oily, a gentle cleanser should be used. It should be capable of removing makeup without stripping the skin off of its natural oils.

  • Exfoliating: Women should exfoliate their skin two to three times per week to remove dead skin cells and promote a healthy glow. Choose a product that is gentle on the skin to prevent any irritation.

  • Moisturizing: Moisturizing is also important for women as it contributes to the hydration and suppleness of their skin. A heavier moisturizer may be needed for those with dry skin, while light, water-based ones would be efficient for oily or combination skin.

  • Anti-Aging Products: As women have more delicate skin, the age signs appear earlier. Products with ingredients like retinol, vitamin C, and hyaluronic acid can help reduce lines and wrinkles.

  • Sun Protection: Just like for men, sun protection is very important for women too. Daily use of sunscreen prevents premature aging and decreases the risk of skin cancer.

  • Eye Care: Incorporating an eye cream into the skincare routine is recommended for preventing dark circles, puffiness, and wrinkles.

  • Healthy Habits: A balanced diet rich in fruits, vegetables, lean proteins, and healthy fats is the key to glowing skin. Adequate hydration and sleep are also extremely important.

Finally, it's good to remember that everyone's skin is unique, regardless of gender. These are general guidelines that are typically beneficial to men or women's skin, but individual skin types and concerns should always be considered. After all, skincare is not a one-size-fits-all matter. Consulting with a dermatologist, esthetician, or other skin health professional is highly recommended if you have specific concerns.

Enhance your makeup look with these bold blush tips to make a statement. From applying the right shade to the perfect technique, learn how to take your blushing game to the next level.

Blush is a makeup staple that can add a fresh and lively touch to any look. Whether you prefer a soft and natural flush or a bold and vibrant pop of color, there are numerous ways to play with blush and achieve the desired effect. If you're looking to experiment with bolder blush looks, here are 10 bold blush tips to try:

  • 1. Start with a bold blush shade: To achieve a bold blush look, it's important to start with a vibrant blush shade. Opt for shades like bright pinks, corals, or even deeper tones like plum or berry. These shades will give your cheeks a standout appearance.
  • 2. Build up the color: One of the key elements to a bold blush look is layering and building up the color. Start by applying a light layer of blush and gradually build up the intensity to achieve the desired boldness. This allows for better control and ensures that you don't go overboard with the color.
  • 3. Use a dense brush: To effectively apply and blend bold blush shades, it's essential to use a dense brush. A dense brush will pick up more product and deposit the color evenly on your cheeks. It also allows for more control over the application and helps to achieve a seamless blend.
  • 4. Apply blush to the apples of your cheeks: When applying blush, focus on the apples of your cheeks for a youthful and fresh look. Smile and use circular motions to apply the blush in this area. This technique will give the appearance of a natural flush, even with bolder shades.
  • 5. Consider your skin tone: While bold blush shades can look stunning on any skin tone, it's essential to consider your skin tone when selecting the right shade. For fair skin, lighter and brighter shades like pinks and peaches work well, while deeper skin tones can experiment with richer tones like plums and berries.
  • 6. Mix blush shades: Another way to create a bold blush look is by mixing different shades. Experiment with combining two or more blush shades to create a unique and customized color. This allows you to create a shade that complements your skin tone and adds an extra dimension to your makeup look.
  • 7. Contour and highlight: To enhance and complement your bold blush, consider incorporating contouring and highlighting techniques. Use a bronzer to contour the hollows of your cheeks and a highlighter to add a subtle glow to the high points of your face. This adds dimension and balance to the overall look.
  • 8. Experiment with application techniques: There are various application techniques you can try to achieve different effects with your bold blush. For a more diffused and blended look, use a stippling brush or a sponge. For a more precise and defined application, use a smaller, angled brush. Play around with different techniques to find the one that works best for you.
  • 9. Consider your overall makeup: When creating a bold blush look, it's essential to consider your overall makeup. Opt for neutral or subtle eye makeup to let your blush take center stage. A bold lip color can also complement the blush and create a cohesive and balanced look.
  • 10. Don't be afraid to be bold: The most important tip when it comes to creating a bold blush look is to not be afraid to be bold. Embrace the vibrant colors and experiment with different shades. Confidence is key, and wearing a bold blush look can make you feel empowered and ready to take on the world.

Bold blush can be a fun and playful addition to your makeup routine. Whether you're heading to a special event or simply want to switch up your everyday look, these 10 bold blush tips can help you create a stunning and attention-grabbing makeup look. Remember to start with a bold shade, build up the color gradually, and consider your skin tone for the perfect blush shade. With the right techniques and a fearless mindset, you'll be able to rock a bold blush look with confidence.

These unique vases will add a touch of elegance to any room.3. Create a DIY Scrub using Empty Coffee Grounds and Body Wash BottlesCoffee grounds are a natural exfoliant that can do wonders for your skin. Instead of throwing away used coffee grounds, mix them with your favorite body wash to create a DIY scrub. Empty out your body wash bottle and fill it with the coffee grounds and body wash mixture. Now you have an exfoliating scrub that's gentle on your skin and reduces waste.4. Build a Makeup Brush Holder with Empty Candle JarsIf you have empty candle jars lying around, don't toss them out just yet. Clean out the jars and remove any wax residue. Fill the jars with beads, rice, or even dried flowers, and use them as makeup brush holders. The jars will keep your brushes organized and add a touch of style to your vanity.5. Repurpose Empty Shampoo Bottles into Sink OrganizersEmpty shampoo bottles can be transformed into practical sink organizers. Cut off the top portion of the bottle and clean it thoroughly. Turn Empty Mascara Wands into Mini Seed PlantersMascara wands can be repurposed as mini seed planters that are perfect for starting seeds indoors. Clean the wand thoroughly with soap and warm water, making sure to remove all traces of mascara. Fill a small container with potting soil, dampen it slightly, and then dip the wand into the soil. Use the wand to gently press small seeds into the soil. The wand's bristles will create indentations in the soil for the seeds to settle into. Once the seeds sprout, you can transfer them to larger pots or your garden.7. Create a DIY Lip Scrub with Empty Lipstick ContainersEmpty lipstick containers can be repurposed to create a nourishing lip scrub. Remove any leftover lipstick and thoroughly clean the container. Mix together a tablespoon of sugar with a tablespoon of honey or coconut oil to create a natural scrub. Fill the empty lipstick container with the mixture and use it to exfoliate your lips, removing any dry or dead skin.8. Use Empty Powder Compact Cases as Storage for Small ItemsEmpty powder compact cases are ideal for storing small items that tend to get lost easily. Clean out the case and remove any leftover powder. Turn Empty Nail Polish Bottles into Customized KeychainsEmpty nail polish bottles can be transformed into unique and colorful keychains. Clean out the bottle and remove any remaining nail polish residue. Fill the empty bottle with small beads, charms, or even a personalized message on a small piece of paper. Glue the top of the bottle shut and attach a keychain ring to the screw top. Now you have a one-of-a-kind keychain that's both functional and stylish.10. Transform Empty Lotion Bottles into Charging StationsEmpty lotion bottles can be repurposed into convenient charging stations for your electronics. Cut a small hole in the bottom of the bottle and thread your charger through it. Place your phone or other electronic devices inside the bottle while they're charging. This will keep them organized and prevent tangles in the cords. You can even decorate the bottle with washi tape or stickers to personalize your charging station.Upcycling your beauty products not only reduces waste but also gives you the opportunity to get creative and add a personal touch to everyday items. From turning empty lip balm containers into pill holders to transforming empty lotion bottles into charging stations, there are countless ways to repurpose your beauty products.  We often use exfoliators or scrubs and masks incorrectly or not at all, though using them once or twice a week makes a difference in our skincare routine. There's a wide range of exfoliants to choose from, depending on skin type, and the rule of thumb is to use the gentlest kind. Gentle exfoliation is important: if you rub too hard, you may damage and even bleed your skin, risking infection. You can even use papaya or pineapple as light exfoliants; just crush and apply for 10 minutes before washing off. Clay masks are best for oily skin, sheet masks for sensitive, and cream masks for dry. We're here to guide you with the right products - just ask!

Eyeshadow, when applied correctly, can work wonders in showcasing the beauty of your eye. The colours can enhance your look, and define your eye shape. However, applying it correctly can be quite tricky. With this comprehensive masterclass guide, you'll learn how to apply eyeshadow in several strategic steps, designed to make your eyes pop.1. Understanding Your Eye ShapeBefore you can move on to the application process, you need to understand your eye shape as it plays a crucial role in deciding the makeup technique. The common eye shapes include monolid, round, almond, downturned, and hooded. Once you've identified your eye shape, the application process gets more streamlined and specific to your needs.2. Choosing the Right Eyeshadow PaletteThe right palette can make or break your eyeshadow application. Pick a palette that has both matte and shimmer shades. The matte ones can be used as base colours, and the shimmery ones will help add depth and highlight specific areas.

  • Brown or neutral tones are good for an everyday look
  • Bright colours can make a bold statement
  • Experiment with different shades until you find what works best for you

3. Prime Your EyesPrimer ensures that your eyeshadow stays put and doesn't crease. After prepping your eye area with concealer and foundation, apply an even layer of primer over your eyelids. An essential step in our eye-popping masterclass, priming also helps in enhancing the vibrancy of the colours you apply later.4. Start With a BrushYour fingers might be handy, but nothing beats the precision and smoothness a brush can provide. Invest in a good quality, soft brush that won't irritate your eyes. A flat brush is perfect for applying a base, while fluffier brushes work well for shading and blending.5. Applying the BaseThe base is crucial as it gives the colours something to stick to, making them more vibrant and long-lasting. Use a light neutral shade for your base, lightly applying it over the entire eyelid. Ensure the layer is even and reaches up to the brow bone.6. Add Depth with a Darker ShadeNow that your base is set, you can add some depth. Using a soft, fluffy brush, apply a slightly darker shade to the outer edge of your eye and the crease. This helps in creating depth and contouring your eyes. As we move on in the eye-popping masterclass, remember that darker colours should always sit at the outer edges to create an illusion of larger, brighter eyes.7. Layering ShadesAfter your base and darker shade are in place, it's time to have some fun with your chosen colours. Pick a variety of shades from your palette, and apply them layer by layer, starting from the inner corner of your eye and working your way mid-crease. Remember to blend out the colours for a smooth transition.8. Highlight and DefineUse a shimmering shade for the inner corners and your brow bone to highlight these areas. You can also opt for a lighter shade to define your lower lash line. The right highlight can dramatize your eye makeup and make your eyes pop.9. Blend, Blend, and BlendBlending is the key to flawless eyeshadow application. Using a clean, fluffy brush, blend the colours in your crease in a windshield wiper motion. This will smooth out any harsh lines and make the colours transition seamlessly. You might feel that this step is tiring and time-consuming, but doing it correctly is crucial to achieving an eye-popping look.10. Finish with Mascara or EyelinerAn eye-popping masterclass would be incomplete without something to define your lashes. Applying mascara or liner gives your eyes a more finished look. Empower your lashes with a lengthening mascara, or opt for a thin, perfectly aimed liner to define the shape of your eyes.In conclusion, eyeshadow application is an art that takes practice to perfect. With this comprehensive guide, you can confidently master this art and enhance your overall look. Embrace this eye-popping masterclass and let your eyes speak volumes about your style and personality!

In the rush of our daily routines, we often pass by mundane spaces like our lingerie drawer or linen closet without a second thought. Making something sweet-smelling for these nooks and crannies will produce a simple pleasure to greet you each time you open a drawer or cupboard in your home.

Create an essential oil-filled sachet to add the delicate scent of lavender in unexpected places. These pocket-sized pouches give a tiny dose of aromatherapy and freshen up any unpleasant-smelling areas.

How to make DIY scented sachets

What you need

½ cup uncooked rice

¼ cup Epsom salt

1 cup dried lavender buds

Muslin cotton drawstring pouches, approximately 10cm×12 cm.

40 drops Lavender essential oil

What you do

1. In a medium bowl, mix rice, Epsom salt, flower buds, and essential oil to thoroughly scent the mixture.

2. Spoon mixture into your muslin pouch.

3. Place anywhere you want to add a fresh lavender scent.

4. Refresh your pouch every 2─3 weeks by opening it up and adding more drops of essential oil.

This recipe creates enough for two sachets.

Where to put scented sachets

Here are a few ideas:

• Place it with other natural-looking decor on a tray in a bathroom or guest room.

• Stash it in a drawer for delicately scented clothes.

• Store it in a linen closet for fresh sheets and towels.

• Keep it in the car to hang on your rearview mirror.

• Hide it away in a gym bag to quell any odors.

• Throw it in your suitcase for clean-smelling clothes while you're on the go.

• Stuff it in smelly shoes to give them a refresh.

• Place it in your pillowcase to surround yourself in calming aromas as you drift off to sleep.

You don't have to use a muslin bag, any bag (or a sock without a measure🤣) can work and any flavor combination - you can rose petals and geranium.... Be creative.

It's even a cute gift😁
